This story was born from the daily walks I take in Forest Park with my dog, Carl. Together we hunt for and photograph turtles swimming in, and sunbathing alongside, the park’s many waterways. We have even helped a turtle or two safely cross the busy park roads in the early summer.

On a chilly fall day, Carl and I happened upon a group of preschoolers gathered under a tree. Guided by their teachers, the children were excitedly taking in the world around them - from tiniest bugs to the tallest trees. Their eyes and ears were eagerly filling their heads with new discoveries.

A young child’s steadfast curiosity was the catalyst for this turtle story. WHERE DID THE TURTLES GO? seeks to provide kids with a validation for that innate wonder that lives inside them.
